The Vipiteno Christmas Market takes place in the heart of the medieval town, along elegant streets lined with the typical bay windows and pastel‑coloured façades that tell centuries of history. The atmosphere becomes even more enchanting beneath the imposing Twelve Tower, 46 metres high and dating back to the 15th century, which dominates the main square and marks the passing of time with its carillon of 25 bells.
Amid warm lights, handcrafted decorations and the scents of Advent, the traditional wooden stalls host selected exhibitors offering local handicrafts, regional delicacies and authentic gift ideas. The market is certified as a Green Event, ensuring respect for the environment, sustainability and the promotion of local traditions.
Strolling among the stands, visitors can discover handmade items, home accessories, Christmas decorations, and typical sweets such as Zelten, Stollen and spiced biscuits, along with hot drinks like mulled wine and hot chocolate that fill the air with festive aromas.
Adding to the magic are alpine choirs, traditional melodies and small concerts, which accompany visitors throughout the market. Inside the Twelve Tower, a hand‑carved nativity scene is displayed—one of the most beloved attractions of the event, symbolising the local tradition and attention to detail that define Vipiteno during the Christmas season.
Each year, the market also features a special theme: in recent years, for example, the focus has been on the Christmas Bells, recalling the town’s musical heritage and creating an emotional thread between lights, music and decorations.
Visiting the Vipiteno Christmas Market means immersing yourself in a winter fairy tale: a blend of history, craftsmanship, authentic flavours and alpine traditions at the foot of the snow‑covered mountains of the Upper Isarco Valley.
