The Civic Museum of Aldino is located in the municipality of the same name and is part of the South Tyrolean Garden museum network. The museum houses an extensive collection of sacred objects from the Baroque and Rococo periods, items that clearly reflect the splendour of the era and its deep religious devotion. Aldino is also home to two additional museums: the Geological Museum and the Mill Museum.
The Civic Museum of Aldino opened in 1990. It displays numerous works of art and objects from the Baroque and Rococo periods, including a Baroque chalice and filigree works crafted in Bolzano. The museum also features representations of notable figures born in Aldino, such as Cardinal Johann Baptist Franzelin, the only South Tyrolean cardinal, and Dr. Toni Ebner, editor‑in‑chief of the newspaper “Dolomiten” and former member of both the Italian and European Parliaments.
In 2000, the Civic Museum of Aldino was enriched with paintings, coins and sculptures from private collections. These handcrafted and artistically valuable objects make the museum’s collection one of the most important in South Tyrol.
In Aldino, visitors can also explore the Redagno Geological Museum and the Mill Museum in addition to the Civic Museum.
