Ski area Auronzo-Misurina

In winter Auronzo and its administrative division Misurina become small ski resorts visited by tourists looking for peaceful holidays and the not too difficult slopes overlooked by the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. The ski resort of Auronzo stretches on Monte Agudo, the one of Misurina on Col de Varda. In the Somadida Forest and near the Lake of Misurina there are some interesting cross-country skiing trails. Moreover, the area offers a lot of alternative activities besides skiing.

Ski area Auronzo

The ski resort of Auronzo lies a few kilometers away from the town center and can be reached with the shuttle bus. The ski runs, always snow covered thanks to a snowmaking system, are quite easy and broad, perfect for beginners and for those who haven't yet perfected their technique. You can practice every Alpine skiing style, like carving and telemark, and snowboarding. There is also a ski school with instructors specialized in teaching to children, who can learn how to ski in the practice slope equipped with a baby ski lift.

Ski area Misurina

The ski resort of Misurina has some ski lifts on the shores of the lake taking to the top of Col del Varda. Here you find some slopes of different difficulty levels, winding down through the forests. Other slopes are only 6 km away, in the ski resort of Cortina. Both the resorts of Auronzo and Misurina, together with the ones of Cortina and San Vito di Cadore, are included in the Dolomiti Superski.

Auronzo and Misurina are appreciated mainly for cross-country skiing. The trails of Auronzo are in Palus San Marco, in the Somadida Forest, the biggest of the Cadore region. In Misurina the trails run along the lake shores, offering a wonderful view of the surroundings. All the trails are included in the Dolomiti Nordic Ski.

The ski area has also some ski mountaineering routes.

More than skiing

If you love snow but don't like skiing, don't miss the chance to try some of the many activities you can practice in this ski area: walks in the snowy pine forests, snowshoeing, sledding, and snowmobiling. The dog sledding center Marmarole offers mushing lessons and guided tours, whereas in the ice stadium of Auronzo you can skate, watch hockey matches and figure skating, or play broomball. If you are looking for a thrilling experience, an ice kart race is just what you need. In winter an important snow polo competition takes place on the Misurina Lake.
