Skiing in Trafoi in Stelvio Pass in Ortler Skiarena

On the border between South Tyrol and Lombardy you can find one of the broadest ski areas of the Alps: Stelvio Pass, the summer ski resort par excellence. Furthermore in November, when the road taking to the Stelvio Pass is closed, the winter activity of the small and charming Trafoi ski area starts at its foot. A wonderful landscape, slopes for all tastes and hotels on the slopes are the main strength of this ski area.

On the Stelvio Glacier you will find slopes for everybody, where national ski teams often train for the winter competitions, cross-country rings and a snow park. You can ski from May to November on more than 20 km slopes between Stelvio Pass and Monte Cristallo, surrounded by the imposing peaks of the Ortles-Cevedale group. The lift facilities take to comfortable slopes suitable for all skiers, and can be reached easily: in fact, the hotels are located directly on the slopes. On the glacier you will also find a fun park for snowboarders, 3 cross-country rings and many ski instructors who will be happy to teach you how to ski in summer.

In winter, fun is assured in the Trafoi ski area, which is particularly suitable for children due to the easy slopes and to the ski kindergarten with entertainment and warm meals. This center is small, but features particularly beautiful landscapes and excellent slopes, which are always well groomed and sunny and never crowded. This is where the world champion Gustav Thöni started skiing, and here you will find everything you may need: modern lift facilities, restaurants on the slopes, ski rental service in the village. Furthermore, many opportunities for freeriders, ski mountaineers and cross-country skiers.

More than ski

If you don't like skiing, you can walk along one of the numerous paths in the Stilfser Joch National Park or visit the museum featuring many findings and documents about the First World War and the construction of the road. In winter, you can sledge on the slope in Trafoi (even by night), or have a romantic snowshoe walk on the paths covered with snow.
