The ski areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia

In Friuli Venezia Giulia you can ski on the resorts of Piancavallo, Sappada, Forni di Sopra, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Tarvisio and Sella Nevea/Plezzo, located in the Carnic and Julian Alps and Prealps. The only ski area located in the territory of the Dolomites is Varmost - Davost, in Forni di Sopra. These resorts offer well groomed and not too crowded ski runs with modern ski lifts.

The region has a total of 131 km trails for Alpine skiing, with ski lifts and snowmaking machines, and 118 km cross-country skiing trails. In each resort you can practice both Alpine and cross-country skiing on trails of different levels, from the easiest ones for beginners and children, to the more difficult ones with the same technical levels of trails used for World Cup competitions.

The ski area of Forni di Sopra, in the Alta Val Tagliamento, is included in the area of the Dolomites enlisted by UNESCO as World Heritage Site and is especially charming thanks to its wild environment. This resort is perfect for families with children, since there are many facilities and services dedicated to them, but also for expert skiers who will surely appreciate the exciting black trails. The ski area has a cross-country skiing center, ski mountaineering routes and a lot of alternative sports and activities for non-skiers.

Another ski area that is very popular with families is Sappada: here there is Nevelandia, the children's playground on the snow with paddle, sledge and bobsleigh runs and skating rinks. One of the special features that make Sappada one of the most complete ski areas in the region is the 15 km long cross-country ski run.
