The horse-drawn sleigh is one of the oldest transport mean of the Nordic lands. Nowadays, it allows a romantic experience, spending some hours relaxing, wrapped in a blanket and surrounded by a fabulous landscape, in a sunny day or a starry night, lit up by the torchlight.
This is an unusual way to discover the beauty of the mountains in winter. Sleighs are usually drawn by Haflinger horses: the name of these wonderful animals comes from the village of Avelengo, near Merano. These horses are small and yet quite strong, and are being bred in South Tyrol for some decades.
