2019 Tour of the Alps brings cycling superstars to Schenna


Spotlights on the sunny South Tyrolean village above Merano welcoming the high-class cycling stage race, on Tuesday April 23rd, 2019: the final showdown on the “Schlossweg” will be broadcasted worldwide in over 100 countries.


Climbs will be the 2019 Tour of the Alps “leitmotiv” in one of its toughest days over the South Tyrolean mountains. In view of the upcoming Giro d’Italia, the stage finale promises an exciting clash among the race’s top guns.


Moving from Tyrol’s Reith im Alpbachtal, the riders will cross the Italian border through the Brenner Pass, before facing 2019 Tour of the Alps’ highest mountain up to 2.094-mt Jaufenpass top hill. With 45 km still to go, the race meets a long descent towards Merano before tackling the final ascent in Schenna with a thrilling showdown along the “Schlossweg”, the picturesque “Castle Street”.
