The three lakes of Sternai (Lower, Medium and Upper) lie between 2595 and 2778 metres. A similar environment and a low depth characterize them all. The excursion (5 hours on foot, from Piazzola di Rabbi) that leads to those sheets of water is full of suggestion for the presence of the Saènt waterfalls and the environment that surround the same name. The interest in those lakes lies completely in the scenery: in fact their altitude, in the centre of a natural rocky amphitheatre at about 3000 metres, and their dependence on the life of the glaciers, makes them third-level worth from a scientific point of view. However they cover a surface of 80000 square metres, to which you can add the 17000 metres of the surrounding little ponds.
