Leave Fondo (988 m.) and take the SS 42 main road in the direction of Passo Tonale, continue as distant as you get to Brez (792 m.), a nice village situated on a moraine terrace. It is worth visiting the Monument to the Zuech Miner (1932) and admiring the frescoed façades of some ancient houses owned by noble families.
Go on to Cloz (791 m.), where some tombs and jewels of the Roman times (4th century) where found - their dating is confirmed by a shrine with images and texts, located on one side of the road. Some buildings have beautiful façades, mainly in two nuances, i.e. red-brown and ochre. We suggest also Romallo (733 m.), with its interesting houses, such as House Arsio. Continue to Revò (724 m.), where the groppello vine are cultivated. Visit the elegant villa Maffei, called "Campia" (17th century), rich of frescoes and stucco-works, that also contains antique furniture of great value and a Sfruz pottery stove, decorated with the cycle of the seasons.
Stop at Cagnò (663 m.), that still shows its late-medieval structure: the Church of St. Valentine (16th century) and House de Pretis, with its famous Wellington sequoia. Past the village, leave the SS 42 main road, turn left and get over the Castellaz Bridge. Continue for 4 km to Cles. As you get to the main square turn left to Tuenno (629 m.), another place of important findings that date back to the Neolithic time, to the Bronze Age and Roman period. Admire the parish church consecrated to St. Ursula - a curious fusion of the original church (15th century) and the new one built in 1914.
Past this hamlet, turn right and follow the road signs to the Tovel Lake (1177 m.), a gem in the heart of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park. It is one of the nicest alpine lakes in Trentino, famous for the red hue it got until 1964 because of the microorganism "Glenudinum sanguinium" - still present in its waters but in small quantity. However, this is a popular destination, famous for its uncontaminated nature and splendid landscape. On the lakeshore there is a panoramic path, practicable on foot in 1 hour. Moreover, this is an ideal starting point to go for traverses to Passo Campo Carlo Magno, Madonna di Campiglio and several refuges. Come back to Fondo on the same road. Outward and return route: 72 km.
