The lake of Lares is one of the youngest lakes in Trentino. It can be an excellent excursion destination since it lies at 2650 m, at the foot of the Crozzon glacier, in the southern slope of the enchanting Val Genova. From Rifugio Bedole it takes more than three-hour walk. Its present surface is bigger than 40000 square metres, but the experts state a further expansion is possible. The first traces of life are dated back to 1948. The upper shore consists of ice: the progressive shrinkage of ice should correspond to the growth of its surface.
