Harvest End Festival at the Gardens of Sissi

October 31, 2012 - On Sunday, October 28 the Gardens of Sissi in Merano, South Tyrol, hosted the first edition of the Harvest End Festival. The event, organized with the help of the religious community of Bolzano and Bressanone, the association Kinderfreunde Südtirol, the organization OEW Zambia and South Tyrolean peasants, featured an important guest: the President of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Luis Durnwalder.

The President praised all the people of different culture who came to live in South Tyrol and during the event met together with joy and mutual respect. He, like all the other visitors, had the chance to appreciate the delicious specialties, both local and exotic.
From tabouli salad to roast chestnuts, from Thai curry to must, from pumpkin soup to Turkish desserts, you could have a taste of each, all while listening to good music. The Laimburg Research Center even offered a taste of different herbal teas blends.

Children had fun listening to stories about the Harvest End Festival, read with passion by the members of OEW Zambia, and enjoyed the stands of the association Kinderfreunde Südtirol.

From 11 am to 2 pm a company offered a performance in music, poetry and paintings expressing the personal ideas of visitors on the concept of thanksgiving.

Since both organizers and visitors had a lot of fun during the event, the Harvest End Festival will take place also in Autumn 2013!
