Longiarù: a journey trough time in the valley of the mills
Longiarù is a hamlet of San Martino in Badia and a typical alpine village, surrounded by striking massifs such as the Puez group and the Sass de Putia.
Longiarù is ideal for those who want to spend a holiday rediscovering the old rural traditions, since it has preserved its original aspect. The village is a real open-air museum where you can admire the typical Viles (rural settlements), whereas in the wonderful Valley of the mills along rio Seres you can admire as much as 30 perfectly working water mills and an old limekiln which was recently restored.
The village belongs to the Puez Odle Natural Park, and the imposing peaks of Puez, Cresta di Longiarù, Putia and Gherdenaccia are a real attraction for hikers and climbers. The surrounding nature can also be discovered with easy walks and mountain bike tours, whereas in winter the ski areas Plan de Corones and Alta Badia are a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. The cross-country trail at the foot of Sasso Pütia is spectacular, too.
