The "Serrai di Sottoguda" and Malga Ciapèla

Comments: this itinerary is interesting from an environmental point of view, among the impressive "Serrai" rocky walls more than 90 m tall. Moreover there are historical evidences of the Great War. In Pian di Sottoguda you can also admire the typical wrought iron works.

Route
The starting point is at the sport lifts in Boscoverde, and you have to run the highroad towards Sottoguda. Past the hamlet of Pian di Sottoguda, you arrive at the junction to Sottoguda: here you must continue towards the village and pass it. Then you will enter the narrow gorge of the Serrai where, after a short sweet uphill stretch, a more binding one will start, with a 10% gradient. The road is asphalted, and in the winter period is closed, since some little waterfalls become ice columns, very dangerous at the thaw. At the next crossing, turn left towards a camping and Malga Ciapèla; after a short false flat stretch you will arrive at the camping where the last climb to Malga Ciapèla starts. The homonymous "agriturismo" is your destination, but if you want you can continue towards Malga Franzedàs (1980 m) and passo Forca Rossa (2483 m), this latest can be reached only on foot.
Since Serrai are one-way, the trip back is through Sottoguda, along the highroad from Passo Fedaia. So you have to run back through the same outward journey till the crossing at Albergo Malga Ciapèla, and here you will turn left reaching the highroad to Sottoguda. Past the illuminated tunnel (about 300 m long), and cross the Serrai bridge: here you can enjoy the majestic scenery. Then continue the descent till the crossing past Sottoguda hamlet and turn right towards Alleghe; from here you will run the starting stretch of your journey till the sport lifts. This itinerary is 12,4 km long.
