Motorbike itinerary: from Belluno to Dobbiaco

Before leaving from Belluno, the old city centre is worth a visit: from Piazza dei Martiri through via Mezzaterra as far as Piazza Duomo with its Palazzo dei Rettori, that was the seat of Government of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, and the Cathedral, built in the 16th-18th centuries. Just a few kilometres away from Belluno centre you reach the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.

Along the itinerary, you will meet at first Agordo, which was an important mining pole in the past and nowadays the seat of an important museum, that still preserves in its old complex of 18th and 19th century-buildings.

Continuing via Alleghe and Caprile you will get to Passo Falzarego driving in the middle of absolutely wonderful Alpine sceneries. Passo Falzarego, with its incredible series of hairpin bends, is one of the most appreciated routes by motorbikers of all Europe.

Descend to Pocol, a natural belvedere allows to admire Cortina d'Ampezzo in the valley below.

The next destination is Selva di Cadore, where you get to through Passo Giau (2233 m.), and once again you are surrounded by an exceptional scenery, bounded by Nuvolau, Averau and the Tofana di Mezzo, while in the background you can see the outlines of the Marmolada, Sella and the Catinaccio/Rosengarten. In the vicinity there is the Natural Reserve of Monte Pelmo-Mondeval-Passo Giau. The hamlet, popular among the tourists, offers interesting examples of country buildings, the Church of Saint Laurence with its frescoes dated back to the 15th century, and the Museum of Valfiorentina.

From Selva continue as far as Forno di Zoldo trough passes and hairpin bends at 1300 m above sea level. In Pieve The Church of Saint Floriano, with its façade covered with frescoes from Titian's school, is worth a visit. Through Cibiana, well-known for its over 50 murales made by international artists on the building walls along the village streets, you get to Auronzo di Cadore via Pieve di Cadore, Titian's birthplace and seat of the Glasses Museum. Auronzo has been an important tourist resort since the end of the 19th century and lies near the Natural Reserve of Somadida, where you can visit the little neo-classic Parish Curch in Villapiccola.

Now we suggest you to stop in Misurina before getting to Cortina. The village is overhanged by the Three Peaks of Lavaredo that mirror in the clear waters of Misurina lake, the greatest natural lake in Cadore.

Back to the original itinerary, via Passo delle Tre Croci, you get to Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the Natural Park of Ampezzo Dolomites. The town has been called the "Pearl of the Dolomites" for the wonderful scenery that surrounds its valley and the international prestige it has. Here you cannot forget to visit the town hall, which hosts the First World War Museum, and the Ciasa de ra Regoles, seat of the Ampezzo autonomies, of the well-known Ethnographic Museum and of the Museum of Modern Art Mario Rimoldi.

From Cortina continue driving along the Alemagna main road and after a few binding bends you will get to Dobbiaco, a South Tyrolean village, whose art nouveau Church still testimonies the previous Austrian dominion. And this is where the itinerary ends.
