The strong devotion of Feltre people to those two martyrs is particularly expressed in the pilgrimage, which is done following a special ritual and has been handed down from the past. It is made on foot, and till few times ago, it was not difficult to see people climbing the last stretch of the holy stair on their knees.
As you enter into the sanctuary, then you sit on the "caregon", a bishop's throne sculpted in a unique piece of sandstone, which origin is still uncertain. The contact with this throne, according to the devotees, should heal many diseases, such as backache. After that people pay homage to the tomb of the martyrs, and pray there. Before leaving it, it is usual to make an offer and touch with the right hand the image of Saint Vittore, curved on the stone of the urn containing the relics of the martyrs.
