Pera di Fassa: climbing in Val di Fassa

Administrative division of Pozza di Fassa, Pera holds an important historical value: here the great climber Tita Piaz, the Devil of the Dolomites, was born, and many are the interesting climbing routes going up to the surrounding mountains. Pozza di Fassa was also a favourite destination for kings and great physicists like Enrico Fermi, fascinated by the wonderful landscape.

Extreme sportsmen can emulate Tita Piaz on the pinnacles of the Catinaccio and of the Torri del Vajolet to feel the same thrill of the great climbers of past times. If you are not quite that daring you can try high altitude hikes or simply admire the landscape: Cima Undici, Cima Dodici, Valle di San Nicolò valley and the steep precipices of Sass del Peredarfech.

In winter, thanks to its central position, Pera di Fassa allows you to reach the cross-country skiing trails, explore snowshoeing trails or reach the Ciampedie ski area and in a few minutes the other ski areas of the Val di Fassa, while children can have fun in the Park Bimbo Neve.

Its name comes from the Latin petra (stone), for the big rock that after a landslide now rises near the famous Rizzi hotel, a protected building of historical importance. If you have the chance, visit the 17 century church of Saint Lawrence, with wood balcony for the choir.
