Magic moments in the Small Luxury & Spa Hotel Savoy
As soon as I arrive at hotel Savoy in Selva di Val Gardena I notice its elegance and style. Everything is tidy: the entrance is decorated with flowers, the hall is quiet and discreet, the hotel staff welcomes me with a sincere smile.
In front of the reception there is a hall where you can relax and read a newspaper sitting on comfortable armchairs, and the atmosphere is refined due to the wide orchids decorating each table.
My bedroom is characterized by light wood and precious textiles: it features a mansard roof, a canopy bed, traditional furniture and a terrace with view over the green valley. I feel surrounded by a fairy-tale atmosphere. The suite is very big and elegant, with the typical colors of the hotel: white, yellow and green. On the pillow I find a chocolate: what a sweet surprise! This wonderful word is also equipped with the latest technologies: I can watch TV on the big LCD screen or connect my laptop to the Wi-Fi network.
On the sofa I find a set for the wellness area and I immediately take the opportunity: I wear the soft bathrobe and the white slippers and I take the lift to the basement hosting the magic spa world. The relaxing music takes me to the entrance of the relax area. In the wellness center you can enjoy the whirlpools, the Finnish sauna, the Turkish steam bath and the fir bath Brechelbad 50, with a special sauna stove and a metal basin with herbs, pine branches and larch pinecones spreading a warm vapour. This is an ancient method for liberating essential oils, with an immediate benefit for the respiratory tract. I am alone… what a perfect way to enjoy total quiet! After a short stay in the sauna I meet Claudia, who is in charge for the wellness area of the beauty center “La Saliga”, for a long and pleasant total massage with fragrance oils. My body is scented and pleasantly rested, my mind is relaxed and cradled by the scents of herbs.
I can’t resist the wonderful pool: I dive in the pleasantly warm (32°) mountain water coming from the source which divides Sassolungo from the Sella massif. The pool continues outdoor: the sun is still high in the sky and I enjoy the warmth on my body while I float in this paradise. In some corners of the pools pleasant whirlpool devices can be activated.
Dinner is served starting from 7.30 pm. Mr. Vinatzer, the hotel owner, takes me to my table and lists with pride and professionalism the specialties of chef Freddy Nagler: a new way to pleasure guided by taste. Each refined dish is prepared with local seasonal ingredients and fresh herbs. The wine list is very rich and I resolve to visit the hotel cellar located in the basement, close to the Spa center, featuring bottles from the best Italian and international wine regions. After the hors d’oeuvre buffet I choose the veal tortelloni with meat sauce and fried Panko-Camembert with potato salad. These flavors are intensified by a glass of excellent Pinot gris. The dessert is the final touch: a homemade vanilla ice cream.
I go for a short walk and before going back to my room I have a chat with Mrs. Vinazter in the relax room of the hall: she tells me that the Sella Ronda Bike Day will take place this weekend: a non-competitive bike event around the Sella group. An excellent occasion to experience harmony with nature and to do sport with other people.
As I wake up on the following morning I am surprised by the canopy bed, the scented sheets, the quiet surrounding me… what a paradise! Breakfast is a real masterpiece: fresh fruits, sweet brioches and the appetizing cherry strudel. An interesting brochure invites me to try the hot stone treatment at the Spa center and suggests me a hike to Alpe Mastlè. I also discover that the hotel organizes many activities, such as yoga in nature and a tour with the streetstepper.
Now I’m ready to go back home: it is really difficult to go back to reality after a weekend at Hotel Savoy!
