San Cassiano: a cross-country paradise where modernity and tradition blend

A village preserving the charm of small alpine settlement while offering excellent facilities and society life? This is not a dream: it’s San Cassiano! The hamlet in Alta Badia, lying at the foot of the wonderful Dolomite peaks of Lavarella and Conturines, offers all this and much more!

In winter, San Cassiano is an ideal resort for cross-country skiers: the 27 km trails among meadows and quiet forests offered by the Alta Badia cross-country center are so beautiful that they were chosen for the European cross-country championships in 2009!

In summer too you will be enchanted by the beauty of the area, offering hikers and mountaineers innumerable opportunities to discover this wonderful part of the Dolomites. If you like trekking and you are also interested in history, we suggest you a hike to the first-world-war Lagazuoi tunnels, an easy via ferrata allowing you to reach the top of the mountain from the inside.

Of course, there are also simpler walks, allowing you to admire nature and find back peace and quite, such as the larch wood trail (with visit to the wonderful water mill) and the “Klaus and Dorothea von der Flüe” meditation path.
