Nature, wellness & design in the legendary Dolomites
If you are looking for relax, but you don’t want to refrain from nature and astonishing mountains, then you have to spend your holidays at Pfösl. The Pfösl is located on a quiet and sunny hill next to Nova Ponente and nestling between the beautiful scenery of the Dolomites, which have been declared World Natural Heritage by UNESCO in 2009.
After having arrived at the hotel, we are surprised when we see the new designed reception, whose lovely details promise a beautiful holiday. We stay in a double room superior, situated in the main building. The hotel has been recently enlarged with an annexe constructed entirely of wood, which accommodates charming and amble suites: the ecological principles and natural materials create a special atmosphere. The Suite 1375 is very exclusive: it’s located on exactly 1375 m m.s.l. and thought to accommodate honeymooner.
The new and enlarged wellness area is an eye catcher: we enjoy besides aroma steam bath, herbal sauna, the experience shower, the Kneipp path and the whirlpools and relax in the warm rose meditation chamber and get pleasure from the lovely smell of woods and nature in the pine sauna. But the magnificent view of the surrounding mountains from the panorama indoor swimming pool, the Finnish panorama sauna, from the oasis of quietness with water beds and from the large panoramic relaxing space is incomparable. Herbal tea and fresh mountain water is at disposal for everyone in the Vitalpina Wellness area.
Every afternoon all guests who booked the Pfösl-wellness-board can sample the delicacies of our kitchen: we enjoy little snacks and home-made cakes in the winter garden, before we return in the pleasantly warm spa area. We decide to stay until in the late evening in the panoramic relaxing space, captured by the snow whitened mountains and summits of the Dolomites.
It’s time to eat! Dinner is served in the cosy stube or in the modern-alpine dining room. We choose our meal from the daily theme menu and from the à-la-carte menu, with proposes for every course a healthy dish with calorie count. We choose a matching glass of wine from the notable wine assortment for our exquisite delicacies. Wine lovers and gourmets will love it.
“Health & Vitality” are the two major themes on the breakfast buffet: the rich breakfast buffet offers fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices, corner with different kinds of cereals, freshly baked bread and pastries. Local cold cuts and cheese products complete the buffet.
After breakfast we decide to give the Nature Spa a try. The beauty and spa centre employs exclusively local and traditional natural products – completely in keeping with the Pfösl philosophy. Especially the massages and baths of Vitalis Dr. Joseph appeal to customers, like the Dorsalis – resonanz massage © and the alpine_healthcare © bath – Arnica & Hypericum ©. Completely new is the outdoor Private Open spa, which is accessible in summer and winter as well, and is a nice facility for couples who like enjoying nature and wellness.
Hotel Pfösl is an insider tip for winter and also summer sportsmen: near the hotel you can join a 26 km long cross-country ski run, a few minutes’ drive away there is the sports centre of Nova Ponente with ice rink and more cross-country ski runs, by ski bus you can reach the cross-country skiing area Lavazè and the Skicenter Obereggen/Latemar, which is 8 km away and has some of the most modern ski lifts and about 50 km of ski slopes and a nice sledge run. Some traditional huts along the ski slopes offer typical food and drinks. One of the highlights is snowshoeing: three times a week Pfösl offers guided tours.
The Alpine summer at Pfösl offers many hiking paths and mountain bike routes, Nordic walking and horse-riding facilities, but also two golf courses in the surroundings.
