The Vista Hotel: design and nature. Feeling at home.

The Vista Hotel lies in the province of Bolzano, in South Tyrol, between Valcroce and Passo delle Erbe - in Plancios – and can be easily reached from Bressanone (25 km).

As soon as you enter the The Vista Hotel you will feel as you already knew the place, its guests and its owners – Mr. and Ms. Jocher - welcoming you. No ceremony, just kindness, care, discretion and a lot of light and harmony.

I open the door of my recently renovated bedroom using the electronic card. As I enter the room, I’m impressed by the good taste of the owners who matched the warmth of the natural Swiss stone pine wood with the most modern design: broad rooms with painstaking furniture and white textile, standing for style and practicality.

Did you forget something at home? No problem…. The room and the bathroom are equipped with all comforts, and if you need anything else (flowers too!) you can just ask to the Hotel reception.

From the balcony of your room you can admire the same breathtaking view you enjoy from the tables of the hotel terrace, where an excellent dinner is served. The cooking is extremely refined.

If you come in the late afternoon, as I did, dinner is the first welcome. As Mrs. Matilde – the hotel chef - prepares a mixed meat grill, hotel guests choose among grilled peppers, aubergines and zucchini, pasta salad, mozzarella and tomatoes, salad Olivier, rice salad, potatoes, etc.
I appreciate the combination of Mediterranean tradition and typical Tyrolean dishes: everything is delicious and soft, and it is served with excellent beer or wine. Furthermore, six varieties of local and traditional bread are available.
Finally strudel, puff pastry with cream and strawberries and walnut cake, as a sweet happy ending.

A short walk, a chat with my friends and a good sleep are the right preparation to the following day, characterized by relax, beauty, health or sport. There are so many possibilities to choose among!
Mountain lovers will discover the wonderful South Tyrolean landscapes, maybe guided by experienced professionals (hikes, climbs, Nordic walking or mountain bike): in fact, the hotel lies in an ideal position for those wanting to hike in the Dolomites. After you have passed Passo delle Erbe (one of the most beloved by motorcyclists) you will reach Val Badia, a real paradise for hikers.

If you need relax, peace and some time for yourself and for your body, you will enjoy the modern wellness center, the indoor pool, the saunas and the fitness area.
The wellness center features broad spaces surrounded by wide tinted windows allowing to enjoy the wonderful view. The furniture was chosen by skilled professionals who created a balance with wood and grey and bright stone. Comfortable design beds will make your stay even more relaxing.
A beautician and masseuse will help you in the choice among many kinds of massages and body treatments.
No matter what you choose, the surrounding mountains - Plose, Sass de Putia, Odle di Eores and Odle di Funes – will keep on charming you.

A rich breakfast buffet will help you to start the new day. Brioches, bread, homemade cakes, all kinds of jam, yogurt, but also sliced ham and salami, cheese and brown bread, together with drinks, juices, coffee and tea.

Mrs. Matilde (the chef) is already in the vegetable garden choosing the right herbs for dinner.
The dinner menu is printed on an elegant sheet with weather forecasts and confirms the refinement of the hotel cooking. I choose a consommé with small herb gnocchi, roast beef with potatoe gnocchi and stewed fennels au gratin with Parmigiano cheese. This is preceded by “a small greeting from the kitchen”: excellent croutons with tomatoes and olives. Furthermore, there is a buffet with salads and vegetables.
The dinner ends with a soft yogurt cream with mixed berries. And obviously apple strudel!

Summer in South Tyrol is wonderful: the sound of water and birds twittering will be the “soundtrack” of your holiday as you admire the green meadows and the colors of the mountains.
Anyway, you shouldn’t miss a holiday at the The Vista Hotel in winter as well. You will immediately notice the fast chairlift close to the hotel: this will take you to the ski area Plose-Bressanone (Dolomitisuperski carousel).
Mr. Jocher (the hotel owner) tells me that the station close to the hotel is connected to the other station in Sant’Andrea: with 43 km slopes of different difficulty levels and 10 lift facilities at the top.
As Mr. Jocher says, once you’ve reached the hotel you can park your car and spend your whole holiday without using it.

No matter if you prefer cross-country skiing, downhill run or the sledge: snow and comfort are guaranteed!
In the evening you can enjoy the wellness center of the The Vista Hotel, relax in the whirlpool or swim in the modern pool, and then have a delicious dinner, maybe by candlelight…
