Plan de Corones is a mountain to the South of Val Pusteria valley. It is 2,275 m high and overlooks the villages of Brunico, San Vigilio di Marebbe and Valdaora. It has an unmistakable shape and boasts a wonderful view over the Dolomites, the Zillertal and Rhaetic Alps. This is one of the most beloved summer and winter holiday resorts in South Tyrol.
If you decide to spend your summer on Plan de Corones, you have a lot of activities and attractions to choose from: not only sport, but also culture and traditions in the 14 villages of the holiday area. Here nature is very generous: green meadows, lakes, sharp pinnacles… a varied landscape, protected by as much as three nature parks: Fanes-Senes-Braies, Vedrette di Ries-Aurina and Puez-Odle. This nature offers many opportunities for outdoor sports: mountain bike on about 1,163 km cycle tracks and itineraries, trekking and hiking, horse riding, Nordic walking on 275 km paths in the Nature.Fitness.Park Plan de Corones, the biggest in Europe. But also golf, paragliding, hang gliding and rafting.
In winter Plan de Corones is the best mountain with respect to its comfortable, fast and modern lift facilities and to the over 100 km ski runs, which are always perfectly groomed: long slopes in three directions allowing to reach easily the villages on the valley floor. Due to its well-equipped snowboard park, the area is very appreciated by demanding freeriders and freestylers as well.
Almost 180 ski instructors are available for those wanting to learn winter sports or to improve their skills.
The area is very attractive for other winter sports, too, such as cross-country skiing, sledding – with over 20 slopes -, ski mountaineering and snowshoeing.
