The Viel del Pan and the Marmolada
Park your car at Passo Pordoi. Here you find a track that leads to the Dolomites Queen: the Marmolada. After a while you get to the Refuge Frderola (in 20 min.).
In front of you there is the strong Gran Vernel rocky face - it is quite smooth and solid, so it contrasts with the thin and apparently fragile forms of other dolomitic peaks. Here a nice, flat trail starts and leads to the Refuge Viel del Pan in 1 hour: a splendid view on the Marmolada glacier.
