Description

The Restaurant Alpino Passo Giau lies not far from Cortina, at an altitude of 2236 meters, from where you can admire some beautiful peaks: Tofane, Cristallo, Marmolada, Tre Cime di Lavaredo, and the Sella group. You can reach the restaurant from Cortina, Val Fiorentina and Val Badia. The place is a perfect starting point for hikes on the 5 Torri or for a visit to Croda da Lago and to the Museum of the Great War. This is also a favorite destination for cyclists and bikers.

The facility includes a 3 stars hotel. The restaurant, open to the public (booking advised), features a large dining room hosting up to 50 people, perfect for weddings and anniversaries. The owner himself is in charge of the cuisine and offers menus suitable for every event, made of traditional dishes like casunziei (homemade filled pasta), pappardelle (large noodle egg pasta) with deer meat sauce, large round bread dumplings called knodel and strudel, a layered pastry with an apple filling. Every dish is prepared only with organic products from the local valleys: cold meats and cheeses, homemade beer, fruit juices.

At the guests’ disposal: a typical Tyrolean booth bench where you can relax, a panoramic terrace with view on the Marmolada and on the Sella group, and a wood furnished bar open all day round serving sandwiches and homemade desserts.
