Cross-country skiing in Auronzo and Misurina
Auronzo di Cadore is in the heart of the Dolomites, in that Cadore which is one of the most beautiful areas in Italy for its woods, valleys and mountains. Auronzo valley, which opens over the Piave river, is characterized by Pieve, Auronzo and Misurina suggestive lakes. Cross-country ski, in this area, is of high quality in Casera Razzo table-land, Pian dei Buoi, Misurina and in the wide and suggestive San Marco plain,headquarter of the Corpo forestale dello Stato cross-country ski centre. The lovers of this discipline can choose among 9 cross-country rinks, for a total lenght of 52.5 km, always perfectly covered with snow. Tracks have different lenghts, but they are however accessible to everybody, since they do not present particular difficulties. Moreover, in Palus San Marco there is the Foresta di Somadida, the greatest wood in Cadore, which, in winter, becomes a well- known cross-country centre. Also in Pieve di Cadore and Vigo di Cadore there are cross-country tracks,they are the "Gei Pozzale" ( 1.5 Km and 2.5 Km)and the "Razzo" (5 Km), both with a easy-medium difficulty level.
