Ski Mountaineering in Agordino

From Agordo and its surroundings you can reach many mountain groups with your climbing skins and ski mountaineering skis. One of these are the Pale di San Martino: take the Rosetta cableway and reach the plateau. From here, and only with the best weather and snow conditions, you can start your descent choosing from four different routes: Val Pradidali, Val Canali, Col di Pra or Garčs. It is worth trying the easy ascent to the Duran Pass or to Malga Foca, whereas the interesting but difficult route taking from the Vazzoler refuge to the Val Civetta valley is for expert skiers only. An easy route offering a wonderful panoramic view is the ascent to Monte Pňre from the Giau Pass.

A beautiful descent is the one on the northern side of the Settsass, starting on the Valparola Pass and arriving in Armentarola in the Val Badia valley.
If you take the Passo Pordňi-Sass Pordňi cableway you can reach the vast Sella plateau, which offers a lot of routes, but often suitable only to very skilled skiers. One of the most famous descents is the Val de Mezdě, a no less than 1400 m drop taking to Colfosco-Corvara. It is advisable to undertake this descent with well equipped (crampons, ice axe, a rope) and expert mountain guides or skiers. Another exciting descent is the one going down the Val Lasties valley through Valon del Foss, and maybe the most difficult one is the route of the Pisciadů Refuge, with a final drop in the Val Setůs valley (ending under the Gardena Pass).
